Founded in 2017, TecSalud creates, implements, and optimizes health technology in Latin America and the Caribbean, amplifying health programs’ impact. We contribute to the Information Communication Technology (ICT) for Impact communities across the region by bridging gaps and connecting dots.
TecSalud is a women-owned social enterprise with co-working offices in Bogota, Colombia and Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
TecSalud has a deep understanding of how technology can optimize health programs. Our approach is not scripted. We employ a fluid “work and learn” methodology where we work side-by-side with our clients across all project phases. This enables us to truly understand where gaps and needs exist for design, input, and capacity, and how to best focus our efforts. While this requires a greater up-front investment, we’ve found that the end product is far superior.
TecSalud creates tailored technology for health organizations’ specific needs – be it an SMS system for patient reminders, a mobile application for community health workers, or a data visualization system for a hospital. We work with organizations to select the appropriate tools for their specific use case. Internal technical capacity, financials and other sustainability factors contribute to how we select the most appropriate technologies for our clients.
To our team, ‘technology for impact’ isn’t limited to technology - it means growing local capacity by pairing expertise and experience with potential. We want our clients to understand and use their technology. To support this, we emphasize training at all stages of our engagements, developing documentation in our clients’ native languages, and regularly sharing what we’re learning with wider ICT for impact communities.
